Dear Parents,
School will begin in less than a month although with this heat and humidity, it still seems like the beginning of summer. Work on the school is moving along. Sewer lines are being put in today. They continue to put up walls and brick the parts of the school where the walls have been erected. Progress continues; it is exciting to see this building become a reality.
We have a new interim superintendent, Mr. William Ryan, a former superintendent from the Acton Public Schools. Dr. Serio retired last week. My position has not yet been posted but so be on the lookout for notices about a search committee for the principal of the Parker School.
Posted on this site are the supply lists for parents. Please look them over; this should help to prevent you from buying supplies that are not needed for school. These are grade level lists. Many of the box stores Walmart, Staples, Office Max, Kmart and Target have specials during August where it is possible to buy supplies more inexpensively.
School begins for all students but kindergarten on August 30th (before Labor Day). There is no school on September 3rd for any students. You should be getting notices of session times soon unless you are in all day kindergarten. Kindergarten screening is by appointment August 30th, September 1st and September 2nd. If you do not remember when your appointment is, please call the office. Kindergarten orientation is September 6th. The first day of kindergarten is September 7th.
I miss the children and look forward to spending the fall with them.
Fondly,
Dr. Barbara Wittenhagen |

This Community Resource Guide has been developed by the Professional Learning Community of School Nurses. It is dedicated to the children of our past, present, and future. We are hoping to assist in the development of happy, physically and emotionally, healthy well-educated children through resiliency building. Resiliency is the ability to bounce back from and adapt successfully to adversity. Tough economic times create struggles within the family unit causing increased difficulty for them to meet some of their basic needs. Often, school children will struggle in school when they sense or are aware that their families are having difficulties or economic worries.
The purpose of this resource guide is to identify and qualify resources for the use of the school community, parents, and students. It is vital, in these tough economic and social times, to have resources readily available for access. This resource guide will give assistance in providing all types of connections to the community. Connectedness to school and to community can provide pro-social bonding.
